Real Madrid wins the Champions League after defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-0.

Real Madrid won the Champions League at Wembley by defeating Borussia Dortmund's fierce challenge.
Carlo Ancelotti wrote more history with his fifth win as coach in the competition, while Real claimed the crown for the 15th time in trademark fashion as they survived a torrid first half and several missed opportunities from Dortmund before coming out on top.

Karim Adeyemi of Dortmund missed two first-half opportunities, Niclas Fullkrug, the striker, struck the post, and Thibaut Courtois, the recalled Real Madrid goalkeeper, also posed a serious threat.

Unsurprisingly, Real upped the ante. Nine minutes after Vinicius Jr. raced clear on Jude Bellingham's pass to add a second goal, Dani Carvajal glanced home a header from a corner to make it 16 minutes from time.

Bellingham had the perfect ending to a fantastic first season at Real Madrid, but Jadon Sancho, who is on loan from Manchester United to Dortmund, was disappointed.

Real Madrid demonstrated that they are a merciless winning machine in the Champions League with their late charge to win their 15th title in Europe's premier competition.

Real struggled in the first half of the match as they were pinned back by Borussia Dortmund's intensity, just as they have in previous seasons both this year and in previous competitions.

Dortmund created chances but crucially wasted them, and Real barely mustered an attack worthy of the name while hanging on by the hair at the other end.

There is usually only one result when that occurs, as other teams have discovered in previous Champions League finals.

And so it turned out, as Real Madrid gained momentum to deliver those two late blows to valiant Borussia, with goalkeeper Courtois amply demonstrating why Ancelotti chose him over Andriy Lunin.

Champions League winners' medals were won for the sixth time by Luka Modric, Carvajal, Nacho, and Toni Kroos who is leaving Real.

And as unwavering as ever, Ancelotti maintained his amazing record as the head of this magnificent club.

Bellingam had a quiet night after blowing a huge opportunity to set up Vinicius Jr. for the second. But what a season he is had since coming over from Dortmund to Real!

With any luck, this will position England's young star for success at Euro 2024.

Despite being vast underdogs going into the Champions League final, Borussia Dortmund played well enough and generated enough opportunities to completely outplay that handicap in the first forty-five minutes of play.

Adeyemi stumbled as he raced ahead in the opening moments, opting to go around Courtois but missing the mark by too much, squandering the opportunity. After that, Fullkrug's low shot rolled painfully against the inside of the post, but Courtois made a great save from Adeyemi.

After the break, Courtois made a good save against Fullkrug's header, but as the game progressed, it seemed like Dortmund would ultimately pay a price for failing to take a chance, as Real Madrid are skilled at turning their own opportunities into goals.

Dortmund's boisterous and colorful supporters provided their brave squad with an incredible cheer once the final whistle, a testament to their hard work.

However, it was all in vain because they were eliminated by Bayern Munich in the 2013 Champions League final and lost their second Champions League final at Wembley.

Coach Edin Terzic will have a sense of what could have been as he looks back on the happenings at Wembley this year.
