Morocco seal historic win to knock out Portugal

With a 1-0 victory over Portugal, Morocco became the first African nation to advance to the World Cup 2022 semifinals, creating history and extending their dream run.
With the exception of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, Fernando Santos stuck with the same starting lineup against the North Africans despite beating Switzerland in the round of 16 .
When Yahya Attiat-Allah crossed the ball in the 42nd minute, Youssef En-Nesyri leaped above the Portuguese defenders to meet it. He only had enough time to get his head on the ball to tip it past Diogo Costa, who missed the ball's flight and collided with an opposing player.
Six minutes after halftime, Cristiano Ronaldo entered the game but was unable to save his team from a loss.
Yassine Bounou, the Moroccan goalie, was also outstanding, making a series of tremendous saves to protect the clean sheet and guarantee qualifying. Youssef En-Nesyri's first-half header secured a historic win for Morocco, who will face either the defending champions France or England in the semi finals.
