Karim Benzema, a striker for France, has been granted a three-week recuperation term after suffering a quadriceps injury, ruling him out of the 2022 World Cup and dealing a severe blow to the reigning champions.The French football federation (FFF) announced that "Karim Benzema is out of the World Cup."
The Real Madrid striker is compelled to withdraw from the World Cup after injuring his left quadriceps.
After experiencing some pain in his left leg, Benzema was forced to leave his first complete training session with Les Bleus.
The FFF said, "He underwent an MRI scan at a hospital (clinic) in Doha, which regrettably revealed a tear.
Benzema posted on Instagram, saying: "In my life, I've never given up, but tonight, I have to consider the team, as I always have, therefore reason tells me to hand over the reins to someone who can assist our squad have a successful World Cup.
"I appreciate all of your kind remarks,"
Didier Deschamps, the France coach, added: "I feel a great deal of sadness for Karim, who had made winning this World Cup a top priority. Even with this latest setback for the French team, I am completely confident in my team. We will use every effort to overcome the enormous challenge that lies ahead."
