Injury to Reece James is a serious setback for Chelsea.
Reece James has yet another setback due to an injury, leaving Chelsea in suspense. After 11 weeks on the sidelines due to injury, the 23-year-old England defender played for only 52 minutes. James injured his knee during a Champions League game in Milan on October 11 and missed the rest of England's World Cup campaign. After Chelsea defeated Bournemouth 2-0 at home, he got injured once more early in the second half.Graham Potter, manager of Chelsea, stated,It’s the same area so we’re concerned," "We’ll have to see in the next 24/48 hours. “He is disappointed, of course. But again, we’re right now at a stage where we’re just hoping it isn’t as bad and we’re keeping our fingers crossed. “He has been really disappointed to miss the World Cup of course. It was a huge blow for him and he wanted to give himself every chance to be in the squad. "You can see with his quality what he brings to the team. He has had to deal with the injury and try to get back fit. I think he’s done that well."
The plan, according to Potter, was for him to not play 90 minutes tonight. "He was scheduled to play 60 to 65 minutes, which was a progression from his earlier performance. He is now disappointed, and we can only hope that it is not as serious as it was and that he can recover quickly.
