In the Carlos Queiroz Iran controversy, Jurgen Klinsmann tries to defuse the situation
In an effort to diffuse the tension between them after the Iran coach took issue with remarks the German made about his players, Jurgen Klinsmann wants to speak with Carlos Queiroz. After Klinsmann discussed how Iran used gamesmanship and "worked the referee" during their victory over Wales on Friday, Queiroz demanded that Klinsmann step down from his position as a member of FIFA's Technical Study Group in a thread on Twitter that was posted on Saturday. Klinsmann won the 1990 World Cup.
Queiroz reacted to the statements as "outrageous" and "a shame to football."
In an appearance with BBC Breakfast on Sunday, Klinsmann attempted to resolve the issue after receiving further widespread criticism for his comments, which were made while serving as a commentator for the BBC.
