FIFA World Cup 2022: England midfielder Bellingham in demand before Qatar WC
Hans-Joachim Watzke, CEO of Borussia Dortmund, claimed that his team was unable to compete with the best in Europe for the services of adolescent midfielder Jude Bellingham. In an interview with the German tabloid Bild on Sunday, Watzke stated that Dortmund would make every effort to get the services of star young midfielder Jude Bellingham following the World Cup in Qatar.
After the World Cup is done, we'll talk to Bellingham. The Dortmund manager since 2005, Watzke, said, "We will ask him whether he wants to stay or go.
We can't afford a major financial war, though, if major European clubs arrive. Bellingham, who is 19 years old, signed a contract with Dortmund that runs through 2025 in the summer of 2020, leaving his former club Birmingham City.
Bellingham was nominated to manager Gareth Southgate's England squad for the 2019 Qatar World Cup. Bellingham captained the team on numerous times in the league and Champions League this season.
Additionally, Watzke discussed the firing of Marco Rose as manager in the off-season, claiming that under the coach, "simply weren't quite right" at the club.
Despite Leipzig, Rose's new team, sitting in second place, and Dortmund behind in sixth, Watzke stated the club has no remorse about Rose's dismissal.
Marco Rose is a fantastic coach, but we mutually chose to part ways because a few obstacles prevented him from really taking off, according to Watzke.
"There was something off, not quite right. We are unsure of what it was ourselves.
In contrast to Leipzig, which has nine victories in its last ten games, Dortmund has struggled this season, losing its last five league games away from home.
Watzke endorsed the 40-year-old manager Edin Terzic, who was hired to take Rose's place, saying he was "doing a terrific job."
At Dortmund as a whole, Terzic is well-liked. I have heard from everyone that he works very carefully. Even now, he's going to do fantastic things.
Midway through the 2020–21 campaign, with the team having already qualified for the Champions League and won the German Cup, Terzic was appointed interim manager.
