England loses to defending champions France with Harry Kane's missed penalty.
France defeated England 2-1 in the quarterfinal round of the FIFA World Cup 2022 at the Al Bayt Stadium with two goals from Aurelien Tchouameni and Olivier Giroud .Aurelien Tchouameni's long-range shot gave the reigning champions the lead in the 17th minute. Harry Kane's successful penalty kick in the 54th minute brought England and France to a draw. Oliver Giroud then restored France's advantage in the 78th minute. Kane missed a penalty that would have given England a second chance to even the score. France will face Morocco in the semifinals .
England have been eliminated at the quarter final stages of the world cup for a seventh time,more than any other side in the history of the competition.
