Friday at the Al Thumama Stadium saw Senegal beat Qatar 3-1 b y taking advantage of a mistake by the Qatari defender, Boulaye Dia gave Senegal the lead in the first half. He scored just before the halftime break. Famara Diedhiou's header from a corner in the second half gave Senegal a two-goal advantage. Mohammed Muntari's goal late in the second half, though, allowed Qatar to keep up the pace. Ahmadou Dieng scored Senegal's third goal to regain a two-goal lead, The outcome has Qatar on the verge of being eliminated. The only way to keep the hosts in the competition today would be for the Netherlands to lose their second Group A game.
