Saudi Arabia, which is ranked 51st overall, utterly astonished Argentina, the third-ranked team in the FIFA rankings with Lionel Messi on the team and the presumptive tournament favorites. Five brilliant minutes in the second half were all that the Saudi Arabia needed to win. Prior to Argentina's three goals being disallowed for offside in the first half, Messi converted the penalty in the 10th minute. Salim Al-stunning Dawsari's goal gave Saudi Arabia the lead three minutes into the second half after Saleh Al-Shehri had leveled the score.
